Pros: I got a quote from my local darkroom guy for scanning a project I shot in the mid-east, he quoted a grand for my project (about 50 rolls of black and white). I use the scanner with XP SP2 so I have no comment about Vista or OS X compatibility.
Or buy Photoshop and do the scratch removal in batches. 4000 DPI scans will always detect scratches, it is after all a high-resolution scanner. Lots of people also complain about the fact that it seems to reveal lots of scratches, dust and defects in the original image. But good scanning is expensive and the customer has no control over the outcome.

Pay a professional service to do the scans for you. If you want things to go fast, do not get a scanner. Overall Review: Lots of people on various sites give this scanner low marks because they think it is too slow. Probably faster to scan without ICE and use Photoshop for defect removal. Photoshop does a better job at image correction in some cases (color restoration, contrast manipulation in particular). Handles some of the older Fuji slide film formulations very well.Ĭons: Not the best solution for those who are impatient. Scans color positives and negatives very well. Digital ICE is good for removing scratches, dust and emulsion defects, but so is Photoshop. I am scanning several thousand slides out of my collection and this scanner is the just ticket. Pros: High resolution, good image adjustment tools, professional quality results.
